Thakurgaon: President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has arrived in his home district Thakurgaon on a two-day visit. The President reached Thakurgaon at around 1 PM today by an air force helicopter, landing at Mohammad Ali Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was accompanied by his wife, Rahat Ara Begum. They were greeted at the helipad by Dr. Khairul Kabir, convener of the Citizens' Reception Committee, along with Mirza Faisal Amin, president of Thakurgaon district BNP, General Secretary Poygam Ali, and President of Thakurgaon district BNP Mahila Dal, Faratun Nahar Paris, as well as senior government officials.
A contingent of Bangladesh Police accorded the President a guard of honour at Thakurgaon Circuit House. After inspecting the guard, the President paid his respects at Senua Cemetery at the graves of his parents. Following this, he offered prayers and participated in a munajat before meeting worshippers at a nearby mosque to inquire about their well-being.
Later, the President proceeded to his residence in Thakurgaon town. As per the programme schedule, he is set to attend a citizens' reception at the Boromath of Thakurgaon Government Boys High School at 3:30 pm today. On the second day of his visit, he will lay the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University.
