Dhaka: President Mohammed Shahabuddin offered his Eid-ul-Fitr prayers along with hundreds of people from all walks of life at the National Eidgah here this morning. President Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman participated in the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah ground.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the congregation included the country's noted personalities, such as the chief justice of Bangladesh, cabinet members, the Chief Election Commissioner, Supreme Court judges, lawmakers, senior political leaders, diplomats, and high civil and military officials. The Khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, conducted the Eid prayers and doa.
A special munajat was offered, seeking divine blessings for the peace and progress of Bangladesh and the welfare of its people, as well as the Muslim Ummah. After the prayers, President Shahabuddin exchanged Eid greetings with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and other dignitaries, senior political leaders, and devotees.
The Eid jamaat was organized under the auspices of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). Special arrangements were made to allow women to offer Eid prayers at the National Eidgah.
