Rangpur: The present government bears not even the slightest responsibility for Bangladesh’s ongoing power crisis, Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said on Wednesday. “Even then, the Prime Minister has offered an apology for the hardship people are suffering,” he stated at a view-exchange meeting organized on the occasion of Nazrul Barsho at the conference room of the Rangpur Divisional Commissioner’s Office in the afternoon.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Zahed emphasized that the performance of every ministry will be assessed every six months. He noted that the activities, achievements, and future plans of each ministry will be transparent and presented to the public. The adviser expressed optimism about the development of an electoral system in which citizens can freely exercise their voting rights, ensuring a robust democratic framework in the future.
Zahed further commented on the people’s mandate, asserting, “This government is an elected government. The people have given this government a big victory. The government wants to protect this mandate at any cost.” Addressing district administration officials, he mentioned that the BNP government has appointed qualified individuals to various districts and upazilas to foster the country’s development. He emphasized the autonomy of local decision-making, stating that decisions should be made independently without requiring central permission in every instance.
The event was chaired by Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam and attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Inspector General (Rangpur Range) of police Aminul Islam, deputy commissioners of the division’s eight districts, district cultural officers, and education officers.
