Sylhet: A preparatory meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in the district today to observe the 110th death anniversary of the influential Bengali poet and musician Radha Raman Dutta.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ilyas Mia presided over the meeting, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Samar Kumar Pal, Additional Superintendent of Police Rakibul Hasan Rasel, Jagannathpur Upazila Land Officer Mohsin Uddin, and Public Prosecutor Mollik Moin Uddin Suhel spoke on the occasion. Local officials, Baul artists, and cultural figures were in attendance, emphasizing the importance of preserving the authenticity of Dutta's works and songs.
Radha Raman Dutta, who passed away on November 10, 1915, is a notable figure in Bengali folk music and is widely regarded as the "Father of Dhamail songs."
