Preparatory Meeting for Celebrating Durga Puja Held in Chuadanga

Chuadanga: A preparatory meeting was held in the district today ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community. The meeting took place at 10 am at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jahirul Islam in the chair.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nayan Kumar Rajbangshi announced that Durga Puja will be celebrated at 112 mandaps across the district this year. Alamdanga upazila will host 35 mandaps, Damurhuda will have 21, Jibannagar 25, and Sadar upazila will see 31 mandaps set up for the celebrations.



The authorities have planned extensive security measures. Members of law enforcement agencies, including police, RAB, BGB, and the army, will conduct constant patrols throughout the celebration period. All idol immersion activities are required to be completed by 7 pm to ensure a smooth flow of events.



Additional Superintendent of Police Jamal Al Naser highlighted that 80 percent of the district police force will be engaged in maintaining law and order during Durga Puja. A total of 790 personnel will be deployed at different levels across the district to ensure security.



The meeting was also addressed by Chuadanga BGB-6 Camp Commander Lt. Col. Nazmul Hasan, Chuadanga Army Camp Commander Lt. Col. Fahad Ahmed Abir, District Commandant of Ansar Battalion Faruk Islam, and former Principal of Chuadanga Government College Siddiqur Rahman. Other speakers included Dr. Martin Hirak Chowdhury, President of Alamdanga Upazila Puja Celebration Committee Amal Biswas, President of Damurhuda Puja Celebration Committee Shovon Das, President of Jibannagar Puja Celebration Committee Jiban Sen, and President of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila Puja Celebration Committee Hemanta Sen.
