Dhaka:Prime Minister's Information Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman stated that political reconciliation with the Awami League is not impossible but requires the party to take responsibility to initiate such a process.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Zahed made these comments while speaking to reporters at a press briefing held at the Secretariat. He emphasized that many people in Bangladesh continue to support the Awami League, and they are citizens of the country.
Zahed suggested that initiating reconciliation with the active activists and supporters of the Awami League would be positive and should be considered. He highlighted the necessity for a fundamental basis to be established for reconciliation before any process begins.
He further remarked that individuals who believe in reconciliation should reach out to the Awami League. Establishing the groundwork for reconciliation through discussions with the party's top leadership is essential. Once this is in place, the matter can be pursued.
Zahed also pointed out that initiating talks alone would not suffice. The fundamental conditions and the respective positions of the parties involved must be clear. If the Awami League agrees to these terms, reconciliation discussions could proceed.
