Dhaka: Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism, neutrality, and responsibility during the upcoming national parliamentary election. He made these remarks while addressing a group of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) probationers at the Hall of Integrity at Police Headquarters.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the event was attended by ASP probationers from the 27th BCS (Police) batch, initially selected in 2008, who have recently joined the force. Officers from the 28th and 43rd batches were also present. The IGP highlighted ongoing efforts to boost morale within the police force and rebuild public trust. He congratulated the probationers, noting their joining not only marks a personal achievement but also signifies the restoration of their rightful position in the service.

Addressing emerging challenges, the IGP pointed out the rise of cybercrime and the influence of social media on public opinion. He stated that modern policing can no longer rely solely on physical presence or traditional methods. Instead, it requires intelligence-based strategies, global awareness, and technological proficiency. He emphasized the need for maintaining integrity and professionalism, especially in the digital realm.

The IGP urged the probationers to prepare as future leaders of the Bangladesh Police and encouraged them to undergo rigorous training at the Bangladesh Police Academy. He stressed the importance of strict discipline, punctuality, and adherence to rules during their training period.

The batch of probationers includes 60 officers from the 27th batch, one from the 28th batch, and six from the 43rd batch. The officers of the 27th BCS (Police) batch were appointed after overcoming a prolonged legal process, having previously been deprived of recruitment opportunities. Senior officials from police headquarters were also in attendance at the event.
