Dhaka: Police have solved the mystery of a 'clueless' murder case within 36 hours and arrested a suspected criminal in connection with the killing.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested person is identified as Md Abdullah, 33.
The release said police recovered a floating body of an unidentified man from Jirani canal under Khilgaon police station at around 10:00 am on Wednesday (Sept 9). Later, police identified the victim as Md Jadge Mia, 44, through forensic evidence, crime scene analysis, and information technology-based investigation.
Police said Jadge Mia was allegedly murdered at a garage in the Merul Badda area on September 8. The body was subsequently taken from the garage and dumped into Jirani canal. As Jadge Mia went missing, his wife subsequently filed a murder case with Khilgaon Police Station, the DMP said.
Using information technology, Khilgaon police arrested Abdullah from the Badda Police Station area on September 10 in connection with the murder. Legal proceedings against the arrested person are underway, police said.
