Dhaka: Detective Branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) have arrested one person along with a foreign-made 9 mm pistol and a magazine from Lakkhipur sadar thana area on Friday night. Police said the recovered arms and magazine were looted from Halishahar thana under CMP on August 5, 2024.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DB Inspector Mujibur Rahman stated that the arms were recaptured following the confession of the arrested Suman Hossain, 28, who hails from Lakkhipur sadar. Acting on a tip-off, a DB team detained Suman from the Capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on December 18. Suman provided a confessional statement regarding the looted arms and magazine during interrogation in police custody.
Based on his confession, police recovered the looted arms and magazine, which were wrapped in polythene, from Suman’s village home on Friday night. A case has been lodged with Lakkhipur sadar thana regarding this recovery.
