Dhaka:Police have issued comprehensive security guidelines aimed at ensuring safe and peaceful Durga Puja celebrations. Organisers, visitors, and all concerned parties are advised to follow these measures to prevent any disturbances during the festivities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the advisory emphasizes the need for caution on social media, urging people to verify information before engaging with it to prevent the spread of rumours and misinformation. Organisers are recommended to set up separate entry and exit points for men and women at Puja mandaps and discourage entry with bags. The installation of CCTV cameras, fire extinguishers, and archway gates at key locations, along with adequate lighting, is advised to enhance security.

Further security measures include deploying volunteers in distinct uniforms with identity cards and armbands labeled "Volunteer" to manage the crowd effectively. The police stress the importance of respecting other faiths during the celebrations, particularly in controlling sound systems near mosques during prayer times and avoiding fireworks.

For smooth traffic flow, the police have designated specific routes for idol immersion, which must occur at officially approved sites. Emergency contact numbers have been provided for assistance, including Police Headquarters, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and the Fire Service, among others. The national emergency service 999 is also available for round-the-clock, toll-free assistance. Additional contact details can be found on the Bangladesh Police official website.
