Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has said that the police conducted a fair and universally acceptable election with utmost sincerity and dedication, restoring the force’s image through professionalism and impartiality. He made the remarks while presiding over the monthly crime review meeting for January, held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DMP Commissioner thanked all members of the force for their neutrality and professionalism during the election duties. “The police have been able to restore their lost glory,” he stated, urging officers to continue working diligently to uphold this positive image in the future.
Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar (Additional IG) pointed out that traffic pressure significantly increases before Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan. He directed all officials concerned to take necessary measures to ease traffic congestion so that city residents can return home smoothly for Iftar.
The DMP chief also called upon citizens to comply with traffic laws. Additionally, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam noted that major national events, including Ekushey February and the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, are approaching. He instructed officers to remain vigilant to prevent theft and robbery during Ramadan, particularly during Tarawih prayers.
At the meeting, the DMP Commissioner awarded officers of various ranks in recognition of their commendable performance in maintaining law and order, controlling crime, and ensuring public safety across Dhaka Metropolitan City in January.
