Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said it overnight reinforced a ban on rallies around Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus’s official residence Jamuna, peacefully dispersing a group of people gathered overnight.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a DMP statement indicated that some people attempted to create a law and order situation through an illegal gathering near the Jamuna. Policemen tactfully dispersed them without using brutal force and took control of the situation.

The statement mentioned that the DMP had previously issued a public notice imposing a ban on all types of meetings, gatherings, processions, and demonstrations in front of the Jamuna and adjacent areas, which remains in force.

It criticized efforts to undermine the ban, describing such activities as undesirable. The statement urged all concerned parties to abide by the public notice issued by the DMP and refrain from spreading unnecessary confusion regarding the matter.
