The body of a police constable was recovered by law enforcers from a plantation of Mahogany trees in Mymensingh’s Sadar upazila’s Kolpa area.

The deceased, Saddam Hossain, 27, was the son of freedom fighter Rezaul Karim of Bagher Kanda village.

He was a constable posted with the Sunamganj district police in Sylhet, who had recently come home on vacation.

“There was an injury mark around his neck,” said Masum Ahmed Bhuiyan, police superintendent of the Kotwali model police station.

He had been missing since Friday afternoon, he said.

A woman spotted his body on Saturday afternoon and informed the police.

"He is believed to have died as a result of strangulation by rope(garrotting)," said the police superintendent.

Police have sent his body for postmortem.

Several police teams are investigating the incident, he added.
