Rangamati: Rangamati district police today clarified that information circulating on social media about photos showing Bangladesh Police’s Armed Personnel Carriers (APCs) moving in various parts of the district is misleading.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Rangamati Hill District Police explained in a media statement that the APCs have been brought to the district as part of preparations and training for personnel scheduled to participate in a UN peacekeeping mission. The ongoing training is set to take place at different locations throughout Rangamati over the next 15 days, after which the vehicles are expected to return to Dhaka.

The district police emphasized that the APCs are not permanently deployed in the area and are not intended to address any special situation. They urged the public to avoid spreading and believing misleading information on social media, instead verifying facts before sharing any information.

Rangamati Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib informed BSS that the vehicles are specifically in Rangamati for training purposes. “These vehicles will be used for training at several locations, including Sajek, Arshinagar, and the Police Lines,” he stated, reassuring the community that there is no cause for concern and advising against giving credence to rumours.
