Dhaka:The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has taken Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dwip, a junior friend of the late KM Tahsif Souri, into custody for questioning regarding the circumstances surrounding Tahsif's death. Tahsif, a former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant, went missing after reportedly spending around six hours with Dwip.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the PBI is interrogating Dwip to gather information about Tahsif's movements on the day of his disappearance and to search for potential clues that could shed light on the case. The PBI also recovered a motorcycle from Tongi in Gazipur, which is believed to belong to Tahsif, but further verification is ongoing.
Dwip was taken into custody from a flat in Mohammadpur around midnight on Thursday. The PBI Dhaka Metro-North Additional Deputy Inspector General Md Enayet Hossain Mannan confirmed the custody of Dwip, emphasizing the importance of verifying any information that might lead to clues about Tahsif's death.
CCTV footage reportedly captured Tahsif and Dwip together before Tahsif went missing. The footage shows the two meeting at the RAJUK Uttara Apartment Project, Sector 18 of Uttara, around 630 pm on October 27, where they were seen parting ways on separate motorcycles after a brief interaction.
Family sources indicated that Tahsif left home after receiving a call from Dwip. Dwip later informed the family that Tahsif's motorcycle had encountered a problem and was taken to a workshop for repairs. After the repair, they reportedly had a meal together before going their separate ways.
On October 28, Tahsif's body was found floating in the Turag River by the Tongi River Police Outpost. An autopsy was conducted at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, but the cause of death has not yet been determined. Tahsif's funeral prayer was held at the Central Jame Mosque of the RAJUK Uttara Apartment Project, and he was buried in Sector 12 of Uttara.
Tahsif's father, KM Enayetul Karim, has expressed suspicions of foul play, although investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of his son's death.
