Netrakona: Police, in a drive, arrested two persons and seized a covered van along with a huge quantity of Indian goods from Kankura Bazar area in Barhatta upazila of the district. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ibrahim, the driver of the covered van, and his helper Sabbir, according to Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barhatta Police Station, Md Kamrul Hasan.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the covered van, which was loaded with Indian sarees and three-pieces, collided with a tree in the area while traveling from Madhyanagar Border area under Sunamganj district to Gazipur. Upon being informed by locals, the police arrived at the scene and conducted a search of the van, leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of Indian goods.
Hasan stated that the police confiscated 164 pieces of ladies’ shawl, 1,126 three-pieces, 480 pieces of cotton saree, 717 pieces of georgette saree, and 60 pieces of one-color saree from the vehicle. The detainees and the seized goods have been handed over to the concerned police station, and legal action is currently underway against them.
