Chattogram: Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has arrested at least six persons as suspects over the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in the port city. The arrests followed a detailed investigation after the incident, which has sent ripples through the local community. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the six suspects were identified through video footage that linked them to the crime scene. The footage, analyzed by the authorities, provided crucial evidence that led to the arrests, as confirmed by the chief adviser's press wing. In addition to these arrests, the CMP detained 21 individuals for vandalism and assaults on police officers during clashes that erupted on Tuesday. The unrest highlighted the tense atmosphere in the city following the lawyer's murder, with law enforcement agencies working to restore order. Furthermore, six members of the Awami League and the outlawed Chhatra League were apprehended in possession of homemade improvised explosives, commonly known as cocktails, in the p ort city. These arrests indicate a broader security concern, prompting the police to heighten surveillance and preventive measures in the area.
