JAMALPUR: Police in a drive arrested an alleged drug peddler along with a huge quantity of hemp from a bus in Bakshiganj upazila of the district this morning. The arrested individual was identified as Md Abul Hasem, 36, son of Md Golam Robbani from Algar Char village in Roumary upazila of Kurigram district. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid on a Dhaka-bound bus originating from Roumary upazila. During the operation, they recovered 3.8 kilograms of hemp after conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, as stated by Khandorkar Shaker Ahmed, the officer-in-charge of Bakshiganj Police Station. Despite the successful recovery of the hemp, no further arrests were made in connection with the case, added Ahmed. A case was subsequently filed with Bakshiganj Police Station.
