Dhaka: Bangladesh Police and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in areas such as police training, human rights, first aid, and disaster response. This renewed commitment emerged during a meeting held at the Police Headquarters between Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir and an ICRC delegation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ICRC delegation, led by Head of Delegation Nicolas Fleury, praised the Bangladesh Police for their significant role in providing legal assistance and maintaining support for the Rohingya refugees in the camps. Fleury emphasized the ICRC's ongoing commitment to supporting the Bangladesh Police through training programs focused on human rights, first aid, and other critical areas that adhere to international standards, aiming to further strengthen public trust.
The IGP expressed gratitude for the ICRC's continuous support in training and capacity-building initiatives for the Bangladesh Police. He highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation in developing police personnel's capabilities in national disaster preparedness and emergency response. Senior police officials were also present at the meeting, underscoring the collaborative efforts between the two entities.
