Dhaka: The Finance Ministry has granted full approval for Bangladesh Police to utilize their allocated budget for petrol, oil and lubricants, electricity, gas and fuel, and travel expenses for the fiscal year 2025-26. This decision is part of the revised budget released for the current fiscal year.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the approval was confirmed through an order issued by the Budget Branch-6 of the Finance Division on Tuesday. The order, signed by Deputy Secretary Nahid Sultana, followed a request from the Ministry of Home Affairs. It included a relaxation of condition No. 4 of Finance Division’s circular No. 596, dated April 5, 2026.
The directive mandates that the Bangladesh Police can now fully utilize the allocated funds in the specified expenditure sectors for this fiscal year. However, the order explicitly states that this approval should not be considered a precedent for future requests.
Previously, on May 3, the Ministry of Home Affairs had formally requested the Finance Division to approve the full use of these budget allocations, leading to the current approval.
