Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Assistant Personal Physician, Dr ANM Monowarul Kadir Bitu, today visited Professor Dr Md Asadur Rahman at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Prof Dr Asadur Rahman, the head of the ENT Department at DMCH, was attacked in the Shantinagar area of the capital on the night of August 17.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during his visit, Dr Bitu enquired about Dr Asadur Rahman’s physical condition and discussed his overall treatment with DMCH Director Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman and duty doctors. Dr Bitu condemned the attack, stating that such incidents could not be tolerated under any circumstances as they disrupt healthcare services and create insecurity among doctors.
Dr Bitu also met with Dr Asadur Rahman’s family, expressing sympathy and support. The family members urged the Prime Minister to enact the ‘Health Workers Protection Act’ to ensure the safety and security of healthcare professionals.
