Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Assistant Personal Physician Dr ANM Monowarul Kadir Bitu visited Prof Dr Md Asadur Rahman at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Prof Dr Md Asadur Rahman, head of the ENT Department at DMCH, was attacked in Shantinagar, the capital, on the night of August 17. Dr Bitu’s visit was aimed at assessing the professor’s condition and discussing his treatment plan with DMCH Director Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman and the attending doctors.
During the visit, Dr Bitu expressed his concern over the incident, stating that such attacks on medical professionals were unacceptable. He emphasized that these incidents disrupt the healthcare environment and create insecurity among doctors. Dr Bitu also met with Prof Rahman’s family, offering his sympathy and support.
The family members of Prof Rahman have urged the Prime Minister to promptly enact the Health Worker Safety Protection Act to ensure the safety of healthcare professionals across the country.
