Dhaka: Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Spokesperson Mahdi Amin today announced that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's ten directives have led to 'visible positive changes' in this year's Eid management.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahdi Amin highlighted that special attention was given to 10 people-oriented issues during this year's Eid-ul-Azha. The directives included ensuring smooth Eid travel, timely payment of workers' wages and allowances, protection of the domestic livestock market, rapid waste removal, maintaining discipline in public transport, preventing extortion and syndicates, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply, public safety, proper leather sector management, and stabilizing the market for essential commodities.
Addressing a press conference at the PMO in Tejgaon, Mahdi, who also serves as an adviser to the Prime Minister, emphasized the coordinated implementation of these directives, which have led to noticeable improvements in Eid management, thereby aligning state services more closely with the needs of the people.
He stated that these initiatives form part of the current government's commitment to overcoming challenges, reinforcing the rule of law, and fostering democratic values under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Mahdi acknowledged the difficulty of reversing 16 years of institutional decay in just three months but expressed confidence in the government's sincerity and dedication to public welfare.
Mahdi underscored that this was the first Eid-ul-Azha celebrated under the newly elected government, highlighting the collective efforts of ministers, advisers, and parliament members in ensuring a successful celebration. He also noted the government's ongoing commitment to addressing any administrative shortcomings promptly.
Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman remarked on the Prime Minister's relentless work ethic, noting that despite the public holidays, Prime Minister Rahman remained actively engaged in governance duties, even personally inspecting waste removal operations in Dhaka.
The press conference also included discussions on the government's measures for traffic management, timely wage payments to garment workers, safeguarding the livestock market, and ensuring efficient waste removal. Mahdi Amin detailed the government's efforts in various sectors, including public transport, anti-extortion activities, electricity supply management, and maintaining stability in essential commodity markets.
The PMO spokesperson praised the effective role of law enforcement in preventing extortion and controlling traffic, which helped stabilize market prices. He also highlighted the government's successful coordination in maintaining electricity supply and managing social sensitivities during the Eid period.
The conference concluded with Mahdi Amin reiterating the government's dedication to improving conditions for small farmers, ensuring fair prices for rawhide, and maintaining market stability for essential commodities, all while addressing public grievances stemming from years of misrule and corruption.
Other officials present at the press conference included Prime Minister's Speech Writer Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Press Secretaries Jahidul Islam Rony and Md Suzauddhowla, and Assistant Press Secretaries Md Nazmul Haque Khan and Abdullah Al Mahmud Shahriar.
