PM to Confer Ekushey Padak 2026 at Ceremony Tomorrow

Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to distribute the Ekushey Padak 2026 at a ceremony scheduled to take place at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 11 am tomorrow. This significant event will honor the contributions of distinguished individuals and a music band who have excelled in their respective fields.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government has previously announced the names of nine eminent citizens and one music band as recipients of the country’s second-highest civilian honor, the Ekushey Padak 2026. The awardees have been recognized for their notable contributions across various sectors such as film, fine arts, architecture, music, dance, palagan, journalism, education, and sculpture.



The recipients of the prestigious award include Farida Akhtar Babita for Film, Professor Md Abdus Sattar for Fine Arts, and Marina Tabassum for Architecture. In the field of Music, the late Ayub Bachchu has been recognized posthumously, while Arthy Ahmed is acknowledged for her contribution to Dance. Islam Uddin Palakar has been honored for his work in Palagan, with Shafik Rehman receiving recognition for Journalism. The field of Education sees Professor Dr. Mahbubul Alam Majumdar being celebrated, and Tejosh Haldar Josh is recognized for his work in Sculpture. The music band Warfaze has also been awarded for their contribution to Music.



The Ekushey Padak, instituted in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952, is awarded annually to individuals and groups for their significant contributions in various fields. The award ceremony not only recognizes their achievements but also serves as an inspiration for future generations to contribute to the nation’s cultural and intellectual heritage.
