Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in the district this afternoon to join a series of programmes, including the inauguration of canal re-excavation, Family Card distribution, and a party meeting.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the premier reached the Waruk Bazar area of Tamta Dakshin Union in Shahrasti Upazila around 2:40 pm to initiate the Khordda Canal re-excavation work. This marks a significant step in the local infrastructure development efforts.
On his journey to Chandpur, Tarique Rahman, who is also the ruling BNP chairman, addressed a roadside rally at Lakshmipur Bazar ground in Barura Upazila in Cumilla at approximately 1:30 pm. The rally was attended by a large number of party supporters and local residents.
The Prime Minister commenced his trip from his Gulshan residence in Dhaka, departing by road around 8:45 am. This visit is notable as it is his first to Chandpur since taking office as Prime Minister, emphasizing the importance of the district in his agenda.
Tarique Rahman’s last visit to Chandpur was in 2004 when he held the position of Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP.
