Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sent textbooks to Ramimul Islam Rifad, younger son of Mofizul Islam Rashed, a former joint organizing secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) who was a victim of enforced disappearance.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Member Secretary of 'Amra BNP Poribar' Agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun handed over the books necessary for Rifad's studies to his elder brother Rimon, as mentioned in a press release issued today.
Mofizul Islam Rashed became a victim of enforced disappearance on April 4, 2013. Since that tragic event, his younger son, Rifad, has been growing up amid uncertainty, waiting for his father's return. The situation became more challenging when Rifad's mother, Ruma Begum, died in a road accident in Mohammadpur in November 2021 while pursuing justice for her husband's disappearance.
Following the loss of his mother, the family's homestead land in Hemayetpur, Savar, reportedly came under the possession of his uncle. Now orphaned, Rifad resides with his aunt in Chandpur, attending Balithuba Abdul Hamid High School and preparing for his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination this year.
Rifad, affected by the circumstances of enforced disappearance, required textbooks and test papers for his upcoming examination. Upon learning of the situation, Rifad's elder brother Rimon brought the matter to the attention of the chief patron of 'Amra BNP Poribar'. In response, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman instructed Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman to ensure the provision of the necessary study materials for Rifad.
This initiative aims to support Rifad's education and facilitate his continued studies amidst challenging circumstances.
