Riyadh: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday expressed deep sorrow at the deaths of 16 Bangladeshi nationals in a factory fire in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh. In a condolence message posted on his Facebook page, the Prime Minister said, ‘I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families.’
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister assured that the government will support the affected families and provide all necessary assistance during this difficult period. Tarique Rahman emphasized that he has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the Bangladesh mission in Riyadh to work together to repatriate the bodies of the victims to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
The government is closely monitoring the situation, as stated by the Prime Minister. The devastating fire occurred at a sofa factory in Riyadh on Sunday, claiming the lives of at least 16 Bangladeshi workers. The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment reported that the victims were from Naogaon, Natore, and Rajshahi.
