Mymensingh: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has announced that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has initiated a family card distribution scheme aimed at empowering women across the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was highlighted by Yasser Khan Choudhury during a meeting at Charvelamari Government Primary School under Charbetagar Union, where he served as the chief guest. This initiative is part of fulfilling one of the election pledges made by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, which is to distribute family cards to low-income families. The programme aims to provide financial support to female-headed families, thereby promoting economic self-reliance.
Yasser Khan emphasized that the family cards will ensure monthly financial assistance to beneficiaries, contributing to the economic empowerment of women. He also assured that the distribution process was carried out without any bias towards political beliefs, religion, or caste. The government has initially chosen one ward from each union to launch the scheme, with plans to expand it to all unions in phases.
The event saw the distribution of family cards by Yasser Khan on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. It was attended by prominent figures including Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md Saifur Rahman, Nandail Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fatema Jannat, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Salah Uddin Mahmud, Officer-in-Charge of Nandail Model Police Station Azharul Islam, and local BNP leaders.
