PM Gifts New Home to Family of Slain Jubo Dal Leader

Dhaka: The family of slain Feni Jubo Dal leader Md Harunur Rashid, who was killed in police firing, has received a new house as a gift from BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday. According to United News of Bangladesh, the house was constructed through the initiative of 'Amra BNP Paribar' under the guidance and planning of the prime minister, addressing the family's prolonged hardship and humanitarian suffering. BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi inaugurated the newly built house beside the Kalidas Pahalia River in the Bhorbazar area of Farhadnagar Union under Feni Sadar upazila. Following the inauguration, Rizvi handed over the keys to the new house to members of Harunur Rashid's family. In his speech as the chief guest at a rally held on the occasion at the South Farhadnagar Government Primary School field, Rizvi stated that those who opposed the government during Sheikh Hasina's tenure had no right to live. He emphasized that BNP practices the politics of humanity and the politics of the people. Rizvi further mentioned that BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has consistently stood by the party's leaders, activists, and their families. He asserted that it is the moral responsibility of BNP to support affected and persecuted families. Members of Harunur Rashid's family expressed joy and relief upon receiving the new house, stating that it has brought much-needed solace to their lives after enduring years of hardship. The event was chaired by district BNP Convener Sheikh Farid Bahar, with speeches from Feni-2 MP Zainal Abedin, Feni-1 MP Munshi Rafiqul Alam Majnu, reserved women's seat MP Rehana Akhter Ranu, and various leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations. Jubo Dal leader Md Harunur Rashid had participated in a procession in support of a blockade program on Shaheed Shahidullah Kaisar Road in Feni town on December 4, 2013. He was tragically killed in police firing during the event.
