Narsingdi: Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP) Nahid Islam has stated that some political parties are conspiring to remove two student representatives of the July Uprising from the interim government.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nahid Islam expressed that although Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud Bhuiyan Sajib are not members of the NCP, they serve as student representatives of the July Movement, working to realize its aspirations. He alleged that a plot is underway to remove them from the government. Nahid made these remarks while addressing a rally organized by the NCP in Narsingdi. The rally followed a procession that started from Bhelanagar and concluded at the Narsingdi Municipality intersection.
Nahid Islam further declared, "We were not allowed to remove the fascist Awami President Chuppu. But we are united on this demand. We will return to the streets, and we will not stop until our demands are met." He added that in the past year, conspiracies have been hatched against them, and activities of the July movement have been repeatedly obstructed. Despite not being allowed to frame a new constitution for a new Bangladesh, they have remained silent and steadfast.
He also addressed the issue of criminal activities across the country, stating that after the July uprising against the Awami League, they were forced to take to the streets again. He emphasized that land grabbing and extortion are ongoing in Narsingdi, but they are determined to drive out the culprits responsible for these misdeeds.
Expressing confidence in the party's growing support, Nahid Islam remarked that over the past five months, the NCP has received overwhelming support from people across the country, which he believes will ensure their victory in the upcoming elections. He urged people from all walks of life to attend an upcoming event on August 3 at the Central Shaheed Minar, which will focus on justice for the July movement martyrs, proposed reforms, and the declaration of the new Bangladesh manifesto.
The rally was conducted by NCP's chief organizer Sarjis Alam, with speeches from district convener Awlad Hossain Jony, central coordinator Nasir Uddin Patowari, spokesperson Samanta Sharmin, and southern region organizer Advocate Shirin Akhter Sheli. More than 2,000 party leaders and activists attended the event.
