Dhaka: Players and captains from 15 of the 20 participating teams in the Meghna Bank Dhaka first division cricket league met with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today. The meeting was held to discuss concerns regarding the uncertainty of the league’s commencement.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the players expressed their apprehensions about the holding of the league, which has been in limbo due to ongoing tensions between Dhaka-based cricket clubs and the BCB over proposed constitutional amendments. The BCB President acknowledged the significance of the league for the players’ careers and livelihoods.

Faruque Ahmed assured the players that the board is fully committed to resolving the issues and will make every effort to restart the competition as soon as feasibly possible. The league had been halted due to disagreements over the proposed changes, which have yet to be reconciled.
