Amman:A decision has been made to enhance the services and modernize the Parliament Medical Centre at Jatiya Sangsad.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was reached during the first meeting of the committee on improving service quality, consultation, and supervision of the National Parliament Secretariat Medical Centre. This meeting took place today and was chaired by committee chairman and Whip Miah Nuruddin Ahmad Apu, with attendance from committee members Whip Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia and MP Ikramul Bari Tipu.

The meeting highlighted the need to increase the number of doctors, nurses, and other staff by revising the organisational structure. To further improve the quality of services, a proposal was made to construct a 10-bed hospital, expanding the medical services available at the centre.

Additionally, discussions were held on modernizing medical equipment to meet contemporary needs. Proposals included establishing a modern physiotherapy centre and upgrading facilities for echocardiography (ECHO), electrocardiography (ECG), CT scans, OPG, RPG, an ambulance with an ICU setup, and pathology machines.

The meeting recommended that the Parliament Secretariat communicate with the Ministry of Finance through the relevant authorities to seek special funding for these initiatives. To secure advanced medical treatment for patients referred by the Parliament Secretariat Medical Centre, the proposal also included introducing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with reputable hospitals nearby.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary (Finance, Accounts, and Public Relations) and other concerned officials of the Parliament Secretariat.
