Dhaka: State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam today emphasized the importance of incorporating physical exercise and sports into students' routines, alongside their academic studies, for their overall development. He highlighted the need for students to dream ambitiously and persistently strive toward their goals, regardless of the outcomes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made these remarks while addressing a scholarship award ceremony organized by the Engineer M A Rashid Foundation at South Point School and College in the Baridhara area of the capital. The event celebrated meritorious students who were awarded scholarships, certificates, and crests for their outstanding performance in the Class Five scholarship examination.
Mir Shahe Alam also underscored the significance of women's empowerment and the pivotal role of female participation in the education sector. He pointed out that approximately 80 percent of the teachers at the institution are women, reflecting the current government's dedication to women's development and empowerment.
In addition to educational reforms, the state minister mentioned various government initiatives aimed at empowering rural communities, marginal women, and farmers, such as the introduction of family and farmer cards. He also highlighted development projects under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership, including canal excavation, nationwide tree plantation programs, and honorarium allowances for imams and muezzins.
He called for unity and continued support for the country's ongoing development endeavors. The ceremony saw 45 students from five branches of South Point School and College receive scholarships, certificates, and honorary awards.
The event was attended by Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan as the special guest, alongside principals, vice-principals, head teachers, teachers, guardians, and students from various branches of the institution.
