Dhaka:Petrobangla has dismissed rumours circulating on social media about a four-day suspension of gas supply nationwide, urging the public not to be misled by such claims.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Petrobangla issued a press release through its Public Relations Department to clarify that the reports of a complete gas supply suspension are misleading. The corporation explained that the temporary suspension of regasification operations at the Summit LNG Terminal in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, is due to emergency maintenance work.

As a result, the country's daily gas supply is expected to decrease from the current 2,570 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) to 2,250 mmcfd over the next four days. Despite the reduction, gas supply will continue, although some areas might experience temporarily low pressure.

Petrobangla also expressed concern over fabricated images circulating on social media, which resemble media news cards falsely claiming a complete suspension of gas supply for four days. The corporation believes this misleading information is intended to cause public panic and has urged the public to remain cautious and not to believe or share such rumours.
