Chandpur: Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today affirmed that the citizens of the nation will stand against any plots aimed at hindering the execution of the ruling party’s electoral pledges. “As long as the people continue to support us, we – the BNP – will, InShaAllah, continue working for the people and the country. We will not deviate from that path even by an inch,” Rahman asserted during his speech.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister addressed a public gathering around 4:45 pm after inaugurating the re-excavation of ‘Bishwa Canal’ near Ghosher Hat in Kumarduli village of Shah Mahmudpur Union in Chandpur Sadar Upazila. He emphasized that the government has already commenced the implementation of the election manifesto. “Now when we have started canal excavation programme, distributing family cards and farmer cards, giving honorarium allowances for imams and muezzins, and tree plantation campaigns in different parts of the country, a small group of people has begun spreading misleading information and creating conspiracies,” he stated.
Rahman highlighted that the people of Bangladesh made a conscious decision in the February 12 election, granting their mandate to BNP. “So, today, before thousands of people, I want to clearly say that we will implement, one by one, the promises and plans for which we received the support of the people,” he declared. He warned that any attempts to obstruct or sabotage these initiatives would be resisted by the people themselves. “We will not need to do anything,” Rahman added.
The Prime Minister called upon the populace to remain vigilant against any obstructions to the government’s people-friendly programmes, including canal excavation, family card, farmer card, and employment generation activities. “Today, at this Bishwa canal re-excavation programme, let’s all make a pledge that we will stay alert and aware. We will not fall into the traps of those who spread confusion,” he urged.
Rahman underscored the importance of building the nation, stating, “We have only one objective and that is – we have to build this country and change the fate of the country’s people. We have already started that.” He reiterated that the people are the source of BNP’s political strength and expressed gratitude for their support.
The Prime Minister also encouraged collective efforts in nation-building, recalling the liberation of the country in 1971 by freedom fighters. “Let’s pledge today that this is our country. Now it is our turn to build it. Together, InShaAllah, we will build our beloved motherland into the Bangladesh we have always dreamed of,” he concluded.
The event was presided over by local lawmaker and district BNP President Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik. Notable attendees included Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Agriculture and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin, lawmakers Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu and Rasheda Begum Hira, as well as BIDA and BEZA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun.
