Pirojpur: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has emphasized that people are the source of inspiration for the BNP. “People choose the party to run the state whenever they get the chance to cast their vote freely,” he stated, underscoring BNP’s position as a symbol of trust among the populace.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman expressed these views during a virtual meeting with senior BNP leader Motaleb Akon, who was left paralyzed following an attack by Awami terrorists during a previous government’s tenure in the Mulgram area of Tona union in Pirojpur Sadar upazila. Rahman highlighted the struggles faced by party members, saying, “Over the last 17 years, many people, including our party men, were persecuted and many embraced martyrdom in the movement for establishing the people’s voting, political, or economic rights.”
Rahman, who has been in exile for many years, stressed the importance of multi-party democracy and the need to minimize political conflicts. He also addressed the aspirations of young people, stating that BNP is planning for them to survive with minimum basic rights. “We are thinking about all those young people,” he said.
Regarding the agricultural sector, Rahman pointed out that Bangladesh relies heavily on agriculture, with millions of farmers affected by natural disasters. He discussed plans to support farmers and empower women in Bangladesh, saying, “We are planning how to stand by the farmers, how to make millions of mothers and sisters of Bangladesh self-reliant, how to educate them a little more.”
The event was chaired by Pirojpur District BNP Convener Nazrul Islam Khan and moderated by Member Secretary Saidul Islam Kismat. Other speakers included BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rezvi Ahmed, Director of Ziaur Rahman Foundation journalist Sayeed Khan, Joint Convener of District BNP Elijah Zaman, and BNP National Executive Committee Member Principal Alamgir Hossain.
