Pedestrian Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Khulna

Khulna: A man was killed after being hit by a motorcycle in the city’s Khalishpur area this morning. The deceased was identified as Hamid Khandaker, 50, son of Osman Khandaker of Goalakhali area in the city.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred around 9:30 am in front of Nesaria Madrasa at Goalakhali under Khalishpur Police Station. Police and locals reported that Hamid was crossing the road when a speeding motorcycle hit him and then fled the scene. Hamid fell on the road and sustained critical injuries.



Locals immediately took him to Khulna Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Being informed, police rushed to the spot, said Md Shahjahan Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station. “The body was kept at the hospital morgue,” he stated, adding that necessary legal procedures would be completed before handing over the body to the family.



However, the police have not yet been able to identify the motorcycle or its rider.
