Bagerhat: A pedestrian was killed in a motorcycle accident in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat this afternoon. The accident took place on the Bogy-to-Rayenda regional road in the Doctor’s Crossing area of Bolibunia Union of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased has been identified as Md. Mohiuddin Talukder, aged 55. He was a resident of Ward No. 6 of Uttar Sutaldi village in the upazila and the son of Osman Talukder. Mohiuddin Talukder was on his way to Kalikabari from the Doctor’s Crossing when an unidentified motorcycle struck him from behind, causing him to fall on the road with serious injuries. The motorcycle driver fled the scene following the accident.
Local residents rescued him in a critically injured condition and transported him to the Khulna General 250-bed Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Khulna.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Morelganj Police Station arrived at the location and managed to restore normal traffic flow on the road. Efforts are ongoing by the police to identify the individual responsible for the fatal accident. Legal proceedings are in progress, according to police statements.
