Sirajganj: The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has unearthed the mystery surrounding the murder of a man whose body was discovered in a paddy field in Rayganj upazila of the district. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime and have been sent to jail following a court order, disclosed M N Morshed, Police Superintendent of PBI Sirajganj, during a media briefing.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the body of an unidentified man was found at Nijhuri village in Rayganj upazila on February 24. The hands and legs of the victim were bound with rope. The following day, Asaduzzaman Ranju identified the body as his brother, Kamal Hossain Chanchal, and filed a case with the local police. Although Chanchal was originally from Gournadi in Barishal district, he resided in Dhaka.
Police reported that Kamal Hossain Chanchal was a mobile parts trader who became involved in the manpower business. He reportedly received a significant sum of money from several youths in Bhurungamari upazila, Kurigram district, under the pretense of sending them to Italy. However, he failed to fulfill this promise.
The youths, feeling deceived, allegedly kidnapped Kamal Hossain Chanchal from Dhaka's Dhanmondi area on February 23 and subsequently killed him, leaving his body in the paddy field. The PBI took over the investigation and arrested Rasel Hussain, 25, Nasidur Zaman Nasib, 23, and Kafilur Rahman, 23, from Bhurungamari.
The arrested individuals were presented in court, where they reportedly provided confessional statements regarding their involvement in the murder. PBI officials continue efforts to apprehend other individuals implicated in Chanchal's murder.
