Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon on Tuesday emphasized that although women are inherently creative and play a crucial role in generational continuity, societal patriarchal mindsets frequently impede their chances to showcase their talents and embark on entrepreneurial ventures. He made these remarks during his keynote address at the World Women’s Conference 2026, an event organized collaboratively by Business America and Arthokontho, held at a hotel in the capital.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Swapon expressed his gratitude to the event organizers, noting that such initiatives shed light on prevalent social inequalities and ambiguities while simultaneously motivating and inspiring women entrepreneurs. He extended special thanks to all the entrepreneurs who participated in organizing the conference.
Swapon underscored the importance of acknowledging women who have succeeded as entrepreneurs, stating that their recognition is pivotal in fostering a trend of positive societal change. He assured attendees that the sentiments and aspirations of female participants would be conveyed to government policymakers. Drawing from his political experience, he mentioned former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia as a testament to a female leader who overcame significant hurdles to attain success.
He urged women to utilize their natural creative capabilities and not succumb to societal barriers or negative perceptions. The event also saw the recognition of women entrepreneurs from various sectors for their accomplishments.
