Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar today called upon the government to accept the logical demands of government primary school teachers and resolve the ongoing crisis through dialogue. In a statement issued today, he expressed dissatisfaction over the reported police action against teachers who have been staging demonstrations to press home their three-point demand, including an upgrade of their pay scale to grade 10.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parwar emphasized the government’s responsibility to consider the teachers’ demands sympathetically to end the current movement. He expressed concern over the teachers’ announcement of an indefinite work stoppage, noting the anxiety it has created among students, parents, and the nation.

Parwar highlighted the impending annual examinations and the potential impact of a halted education system on students. He pointed out that the loss of education is irreparable for any nation and urged the teachers to consider this in their actions.

He urged the government to move away from a hardline stance and address the teachers’ demands through dialogue and empathy. Parwar also appealed for immediate measures to end the teachers’ movement and facilitate their return to the classroom.
