Accra:The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that Parvez Hossain Emon will replace Liton Das in the ongoing tri-nation ODI series, which includes Afghanistan and Zimbabwe alongside Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Liton, who is the regular captain of Bangladesh's ODI team, has been ruled out due to a hip injury. The injury was confirmed after Liton reported discomfort and underwent an MRI, which revealed issues in his right hip joint.

Emon, who is 24 years old, has played in three ODIs since his debut against Sri Lanka last year. Although relatively new to the ODI format, Emon is a regular in Bangladesh's T20 lineup, having participated in 40 matches.

National team physiotherapist Bayjedul Islam communicated Liton's unavailability through a video message from the BCB. Despite attempting to play after a fitness test, Liton was unable to meet the necessary fitness standards, resulting in his exclusion from the series.
