Parveen Mahmud Receives SAFA Lifetime Woman Leadership Award

Colombo: Parveen Mahmud from Bangladesh received the 'Lifetime Woman Leadership Award 2025' at the SAFA Women Leadership Award Ceremony on Tuesday at Hotel Cinnamon Life, City of Dreams, Sri Lanka.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, she is the Chairperson of Manusher Jonnyo Foundation (MJF), MIDAS, HerStory Foundation, and Shasha Denims PLC. She has also served as the Chairperson of UCEP-Bangladesh and Acid Survivor's Foundation.

Parveen Mahmud is notable for being the first woman President to lead the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). She also holds the distinction of being the first female board member and the first female President to serve the SAFA Board among professional bodies of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), the apex accounting professional body of SAARC.

Parveen Mahmud began her career with BRAC, later serving as Deputy Managing Director at PKSF and was the Founding Managing Director of Grameen Telecom Trust. She was a Partner at ACNABIN, chartered accountants, and has served on numerous boards including BRAC International, PKSF, TIB, and Grameen Telecom. She has been a pioneer in inclusive growth, women's empowerment, and social innovation across South Asia.

The SAFA Leadership Award ceremony was held concurrently with the Inauguration Ceremony of the CMA Sri Lanka Silver Jubilee International Management Accounting Conference 2025, in the presence of SAFA Board Members and other distinguished dignitaries. This recognition highlights her contributions and impact, inspiring women leaders across Bangladesh and beyond.
