Parliamentary Committee Clears APBn Bill for Jatiya Sangsad Submission

Dhaka: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Ministry has decided to send the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Bill, 2026, to the Jatiya Sangsad (JS), following a comprehensive review and discussion of the proposed legislation during their meeting today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this decision was made during the committee's third meeting, which was chaired by Zainul Abedin at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The committee engaged in detailed discussions concerning the bill before agreeing to forward it to parliament for further consideration.

The meeting saw the participation of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, as well as Whip Rakibul Islam. Other attendees included Md Kamruzzaman, Md Monwar Hossain, Shirin Sultana, Md Nurul Islam, and Md Abdul Baten.

Senior officials, such as the senior secretary of the Home Ministry, the inspector general of police, and heads of departments and agencies under the ministry, were also present at the meeting.
