Dhaka: The 13th Jatiya Sangsad today established a parliamentary standing committee focused on the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, appointing BNP lawmaker Md Akhteruzzaman Mia of Dinajpur-4 constituency as its chairman. Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni proposed the committee's formation with the agreement of Leader of the House Tarique Rahman. The proposal was subsequently approved by a voice vote in parliament.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the committee includes nine members, among them two MPs from Jamaat-e-Islami and one MP from Bangladesh Kelafat Majlish. Other members include State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Shariful Alam from Kishoreganj-6, SM Faisal from Habiganj-4, Md Nasir Chowdhury from Sunamganj-2, Md Abdullah from Munshiganj-1, Rezeka Sultana from Women Seat-36, Md Afjal Hossain from Kushtia-4, Hafez Muhammad Rabiul Bashar from Satkhira-3, and Mahabuba Hakim from Women Seat-48.
