Dhaka: Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider and a UK delegation today paid separate courtesy calls on Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon. During these meetings at the ministry office in the Secretariat, discussions were focused on mutual interests and the development of the education and cultural sectors, as stated in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting with the Pakistani delegation, Education Minister Milon highlighted the opportunities to enhance teacher training and exchange programs between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He expressed his optimism for expanded cooperation in education, sports, and technology in the coming years. Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider shared that the Government of Pakistan is currently providing scholarships for Bangladeshi students in fields such as biotechnology, BBA, artificial intelligence, computer engineering, and fashion designing. He also noted the success of bilateral cooperation initiatives, including the Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme and Training for Civil Services. Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Md. Wasif was also in attendance.
Earlier in the day, a UK delegation led by Md. Zahidul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of a UK Management College and Chairman of Central University of Science and Technology, met with the Education Minister. The UK team included Dr. Robin Carey, Director of the University of Wolverhampton, and Dr. David Atkinson. Senior officials from the Education Ministry were present at these discussions, which are aimed at fostering educational collaboration between the UK and Bangladesh.
