Dhaka: Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider today called on Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam at the latter’s office at the Secretariat. During the meeting, significant discussions were held regarding media cooperation and other socio-economic issues.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Information and Broadcasting Adviser highlighted that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed between the news agencies of Bangladesh and Pakistan. This agreement aims to strengthen cooperative relations for the development of media in both countries. Both the Adviser and the High Commissioner expressed mutual interest in furthering this cooperation.
The Adviser also noted that Bangladesh is in the process of digitalizing its television broadcasting system, indicating progress in the country’s media landscape. In the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Bangladesh, the Pakistani High Commissioner assured that the Pakistan government would respect the choice of the Bangladeshi people in electing their representatives.
Additionally, the Information and Broadcasting Adviser addressed the interest of Bangladeshi researchers in studying socio-economic events from 1947 to 1971, a period of significant historical importance. He requested the Pakistani High Commissioner’s assistance in accessing relevant documents stored in Pakistan’s archives, which are crucial for this research.
The meeting also covered various socio-economic issues affecting both nations. Press Counselor of the Pakistan High Commission Fasih Ullah was present during the discussions, underscoring the importance of this diplomatic engagement.
