Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu emphasized the significance of the Bangla New Year as a representation of the nation’s non-communal secular spirit, heritage, and culture. Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day Baishakhi festival at the Shahid Abul Kashem Degree College field, he highlighted the festival’s role in uniting people beyond differences.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Dulu remarked, “Pahela Baishakh is a festival of the heart for Bengalis, which inspires people to rise above all differences and stand together in unity.” He underscored the importance of nurturing the younger generation to uphold the nation’s traditions and culture, noting the pivotal role educational institutions can play in this endeavor.
The minister also noted that events like the Baishakhi celebrations are instrumental in fostering patriotism, humanity, and cultural awareness among students. The festival, attended b
y teachers, students, local dignitaries, and professionals, featured cultural performances, traditional rural sports, horse racing competitions, discussions, and a Baishakhi fair, creating an atmosphere of festivity and unity among the participants.
