Dhaka: National Citizens’ Party (NCP) Central Election Management Committee Chairman Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan stated that despite reports of irregularities in certain areas, the overall voting process across the country was conducted in a fair and peaceful manner. He made this assertion during an emergency press conference held at the party’s central office around 9:30 pm on Thursday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif Mahmud highlighted that while some irregularities were reported, the general electoral scenario suggested that the voting was largely orderly and acceptable. He emphasized the importance of not overlooking these irregularities, urging the Election Commission and other relevant authorities to address the issues in the affected constituencies appropriately.
He also appealed to leaders and activists of the 11-party alliance, who had been active throughout the election day, to maintain vigilance at polling centres. He stressed the importance of staying at these centres until final results were announced, even if preliminary results indicated a lead for the party.
Further, Asif Mahmud mentioned that party leaders and activists had been instructed to remain alert and that any necessary decisions would be taken as the situation demanded.
