Police have seized 92,616 litres of edible oil illegally stored in four warehouses in Rajshahi.

On a tip-off, a team of cops raided the four warehouses in the Baneshor Bazar area of Rajshahi’s Puthia upazila on Tuesday afternoon and made the seizure.

During the drive, the law enforcers also arrested the owners of the four godowns and a truck driver.

The arrestees have been identified as Bikash Saha, Entaz Ali, Shailen Pal and Rajib Saha. However, the identity of the truck driver could not be known.

“The seized oil includes 24,684 litres of soybean oil. The remaining was palm oil,” said ABM Masud Hossain, superintendent of Rajshahi district police.

The seized oil will be sold to consumers at a fair price through the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) outlets, he said.

Legal action will be taken against the arrestees and the four godowns have been sealed, said SP Masud.
